SJRA Elections Coming Up – Is This Your Year to Run?

SJRA will hold its biennial election at the May general meeting, but already Ray N3RG and his nominating committee are beating the bushes for new candidates for the board of directors and to fill spots among the club officers.  A slate of candidates must constitutionally be provided at the April meeting, at which time nominations are also accepted from the membership.  To be nominated a person only needs to state his willingness to serve in the post; candidates for president and vice president must have served on the board for one term.

SJRA Takes 2nd Place in 6A for Field Day 2016

The December QST reported that SJRA placed 2nd in the 6A transmitter category and 9th overall in Field Day for 2016.  Both results are a credit to the club and to those who contributed.  There were 42 contestants in category 6A and more than a thousand overall.  Congratulations to all.  More detailed results are available on the Field Day page.

SJRA Centennial QSO Party

It is a rare occasion when an amateur radio club can celebrate a landmark anniversary. In this case the South Jersey Radio Association (SJRA) is preparing to celebrate its centennial anniversary and stake its claim to being one of the oldest continually meeting clubs of its kind in North America. Founded on June 12, 1916 in the home of William G. Phillips in Collingswood, NJ, the history of SJRA dates back to the very inception of radio, predating the first commercial radio broadcast by four years! The club became affiliated with the ARRL in 1920.

South Jersey Radio Association is celebrating its 100th year in 2016, including operating K2AA/100 during the January VHF contest.  This is a great opportunity to collect your first historic, commemorative Centennial QSL card sponsored by SJRA.  The contest runs from 2pm Saturday January 30 to 11pm Sunday January 31, local time, but one does not need to operate in the contest to make a contact or to obtain your Centennial QSL card.   Your contact WILL help SJRA/K2AA/100 improve its score in the contest.
